Eternal SBI Card: what the 10% on Zomato, Blinkit and District is really worth

SBI Card and Eternal launched the Eternal SBI Card on 15 October 2026 with up to 10% off Zomato, Blinkit and District. Zomato, District and Blinkit share one ₹2,000 monthly cap. Here is how much you need to spend to use it, what SBI's terms leave out, and who should apply.

SBI Card and Eternal, the company that owns Zomato, Blinkit and District, announced the Eternal SBI Card on 15 October. SBI has since published the card's page and full terms, and applications open in phases from 22 October. You can ask for early access in the Zomato, Blinkit and District apps.

The headline is 10% off Zomato and District and up to 10% off Blinkit. The number that decides whether the card is worth holding is in SBI's terms: those discounts share a single cap of ₹2,000 a calendar month.

What the card gives you

ixigo flights and hotels4% off with code IXIGOSBI, plus 1% cashbacksame ₹1,000
Other eligible spends1% cashback₹500 a month
District movie ticketsBuy one, get up to ₹200 off the secondonce a month

The joining fee is ₹499 plus GST, and it comes with six months of Zomato Gold on activation. The renewal fee is also ₹499 plus GST, reversed if you spend ₹2 lakh in a year. The card is issued on Mastercard and RuPay.

According to the launch press release, the Eternal discounts apply over and above the platforms' own offers, so a Zomato coupon and the card discount should both apply on the same order. The discounts come off at checkout. The cashback on everything else lands as a statement credit within two working days of your statement, and SBI says it does not expire.

Key takeaway

Zomato, District and Blinkit share one ₹2,000 a month cap. It is not ₹2,000 per app, and it resets each calendar month, not each statement.

How much you need to spend to use the cap

At 10%, you reach ₹2,000 at ₹20,000 a month on Zomato and District. Most people spend far less than that, and what matters for them is the rate, not the cap.

Monthly spend on Eternal appsDiscount a monthDiscount a year
₹3,000 Zomato + ₹2,000 Blinkit₹400₹4,800
₹6,000 Zomato + ₹4,000 Blinkit₹800₹9,600
₹10,000 Zomato + ₹6,000 Blinkit₹1,300₹15,600
₹20,000 Zomato and District₹2,000₹24,000

The Blinkit figures use the 5% rate, which SBI's terms confirm covers groceries. Beauty and electronics earn 10%.

Even the smallest row clears the ₹589 fee (₹499 plus GST) many times over. For anyone who orders on Zomato every week, the fee is not the question. The question is whether this card beats the one you already use for food.

Worth knowing

Before launch, an early version of SBI's page described the Blinkit discount as non-grocery. The final terms settle it: 5% on "Blinkit Grocery", inside the same ₹2,000 cap. Two things on the Eternal apps earn nothing: baby food and feeding essentials, and tobacco and paan corner products. Orders converted to EMI get 0% too.

Against Swiggy BLCK

The obvious comparison is Swiggy's own card. HDFC stopped taking new applications for the original Swiggy HDFC card in February 2026, so a new applicant today gets Swiggy BLCK (10% on Swiggy) or Swiggy ORNGE (5%). BLCK is the fair match.

Eternal SBI CardSwiggy BLCK
Food delivery10% on Zomato10% on Swiggy
Quick commerce5% on Blinkit, 10% on electronics and beauty10% on Instamart
Dining out10% on District10% on Swiggy Dineout
Cap on the app discount₹2,000 a month₹1,500 a month
Minimum ordernone stated for the discounts₹249
Other partners5% on four partners, ₹1,000 cap5% on select online merchants, ₹1,500 cap
Everything else1%, ₹500 cap1%, ₹1,000 cap
Fee₹499₹1,000

On food delivery they are equal. The differences are quick commerce, where Instamart's 10% beats Blinkit's 5% on regular orders, and the cap and fee, where Eternal is more generous. Pick the card that matches the app you actually open. If you split evenly between Zomato and Swiggy, holding both is reasonable, since each covers half your food spend at 10%.

If you still hold the original Swiggy HDFC card, it pays 10% on Swiggy up to ₹1,500 a billing cycle on orders of ₹249 or more, so the same comparison applies.

The movie offer

Buy two movie tickets on District in one transaction and get up to ₹200 off the second, once a month per cardholder. That is up to ₹2,400 a year, and SBI's terms do not tie it to a spend target.

That matters this month. From 1 November, the District movie offers on Axis MY ZONE, Select and Privilege only work if you spent ₹25,000 on the card in the previous three months. If you kept MY ZONE mainly for movies, this card does the same job without the spend condition.

What it is not good for

The 1% on everything else is capped at ₹500 a month, so it stops paying after ₹50,000 of spend. Transactions under ₹100 earn no cashback. Fuel, rent, insurance, jewellery, education, utilities, gaming, government payments, wallet loads, gift and prepaid card loads and EMI earn nothing. Your Eternal app orders do not earn the 1% on top of their discount either.

Fuel does get a 1% surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000, up to ₹200 a statement cycle. Foreign currency spends carry a 3.5% markup. This is a card for Eternal's apps and four partners. Keep your main card for everything else.

If you pick RuPay so you can pay over UPI, SBI's FAQ says UPI payments to merchants earn 1% cashback. It does not say that paying Zomato or Blinkit through UPI gets the instant discount, so on the Eternal apps, pay with the card itself.

What to do

  1. Apply only if you spend at least ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 a month on Zomato, Blinkit or District. Below that the discount is small, though the movie offer alone covers the fee if you go to the cinema with someone every month.
  2. If you are on Swiggy more than Zomato, Swiggy BLCK is the better fit. Look at last month's food orders and go with the app that had more of them.
  3. On Zomato, Blinkit and District, pay with the card, not with the RuPay card over UPI. Use code IXIGOSBI when booking on ixigo.
  4. Activate the six months of Zomato Gold that comes with the joining fee.

Common questions

When can I apply?

Applications open in phases from 22 October 2026. You can request early access through the Zomato, Blinkit or District app.

Is the ₹2,000 cap per app?

No. It covers Zomato, District and Blinkit together, per calendar month.

Do Blinkit groceries count?

Yes, at 5%. SBI's terms name Blinkit Grocery and put it inside the same ₹2,000 cap. Baby food, feeding essentials, tobacco and paan products are excluded.

Does the discount stack with Zomato's own offers?

The press release says the card discounts are over and above existing platform offers. Check the checkout screen on your first order to confirm.

Is the annual fee waived?

The ₹499 plus GST renewal fee is reversed if you spend ₹2 lakh in a year. That is about ₹16,700 a month.

Should I choose Mastercard or RuPay?

RuPay can be linked to UPI, and SBI says UPI payments to merchants earn 1% cashback. If you don't need UPI on this card, the choice makes little difference to the rewards.
